Developing better and more capable Golf Club managers was the primary focus of the 2016 Golf Managers Association of New Zealand, 7th Biennial Conference that took place inWellington between August 28 and August 30 2016. The Conference attracted a number of New Zealand’s renowned sports and business leaders as presenters and just on 100 golf club manager delegates and golf industry personnel.
Billed “Delivering Golf,” the Conference clearly focussed on the GMANZ’s purpose to support its membership and increase golf and other club management capabilities across New Zealand through the provision of training, resources, network and support. The Conference targeted anyone with a Golf Club Management or Governance role.
A range ofnoted guest speakers including NZ GolfCEO Dean Murphy, NZ Rugby CEO Steve Tew, andFormer Rugby League International Howie Tamati spoke at the conference.
One of the highlights of the Conference was the breakfast at The Beehive with Prime Minister John Key present. John a keen golfer in his own right gave a very interesting speech on his thoughts on the golf industry in New Zealand, the outstanding efforts of our two key players on the world stage, Lydia Ko and Danny Lee, the importance of golf as a tourism income earner for the country and how golf clubs throughout the country could add value to tourism promotion.
The next conference is Queenstown2018.
