Bayleys Paradise Coast Golf Classic 2024
Joanne and Russ Somerville love their golf and play as often as they can. Whether it’s local club day in Whangamata or on the road discovering golfing gems round the country. Joanne is on a 27 and Russ is on a 24. They often have some ding dong battles and the one with the highest score has to cook dinner.
Based in Pauanui they were the first to enter Bayleys Paradise Coast Golf Classic- just like they were last year. “We had lots of fun and met some great people from all over the country’, said Joanne. “Obviously we’re not spring chickens, so to be able to go home every night and snuggle up in our own bed, means we’re ready for the morning”.
Bayleys Paradise Coast Golf Classic is played over three local courses on The Coromandel- Pauanui Lakes Resort, Tairua and Whangamata. All courses are within a short drive from each other and offer a diverse range of challenges. There’s the long Lakes Resort course, the tight and tidy Tairua with it’s legendary ladies morning tea and of course the highly regarded Whangamata Course with its infamous water holes.
“I’m determined to beat her this year”, says Russ “..cause I’m such a lousy cook”.
Local businesses and council has to come to the party again this year and as well as $10,000 in prizes there are several wonderful accomodation deals. Restricted to just 140 players, the tournament is already a third full. Welcome to the Paradise Coast.
