Canterbury’s first win in women’s Interprovincials since 1988

Canterbury swept Bay of Plenty aside in the final to win 5-0 at the Ashburton Golf Club. It was Canterbury’s first win in the tournament for 27 years.

 

The one-sided final was a turnaround from earlier in the day when Canterbury faced North Harbour in it's semi-final. At the end of regulation play it was 2-1/2 points each and a playoff was required to determine the finalist.

New Zealand’s top courses

Otago golf professional Andrew Whiley recently completed the first New Zealand golf course regional rankings.
With 776 respondents representing 114 golf clubs, the regional rankings were based on regions similar to the Super 15 rugby regions. Each golfer was asked to rank their top six golf courses, their favourite “nine-hole” golf course and their “hidden gem”.

She Loves Golf: NZ Golf to entice more Female Golfers

Female junior numbers were the sport's only membership category to increase last year, and it was hoped the women, whose combined Instagram following alone was in excess of 650,000, would provide further impetus.

"The female segment is the first cab off the rank that we are targeting [in giving] clubs the knowledge, resources and tools to attract specific groups of the market, and further drive participation and membership at club level," New Zealand Golf marketing manager Jan Rowsell said.

Thirteen-year-old wins Taranaki Open

The winning margin was eight strokes and the age 13.

They are two amazing statistics to come from the winner of the women’s division of the Taranaki Open.

The winner was Vyan Park who was a model of consistency over the four days of the tournament at Ngamotu in New Plymouth.

Royal Wellington to host world class tournament

It was announced last month that Royal Wellington would host the 2017 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, which has quickly developed into one of the world's most prestigious amateur golf tournaments.
