They are two amazing statistics to come from the winner of the women’s division of the Taranaki Open.

The winner was Vyan Park who was a model of consistency over the four days of the tournament at Ngamotu in New Plymouth.

Park had scores of 75, 73, 73 and 73 for a six-over par total of 294. That was eight shots better than the runner-up, professional Choi Sally.

Park, from the Gulf Harbour Country Club, had a lead of seven shots going into the final and never looked like relinquishing it, scoring a one-over par on the last day.

“My goal today was to go under par, which I just missed out on,’’ Park said.

``But I was still happy with the round. With the small field I just had to focus on my golf and play consistent.”

Park included an eagle three on the par five seventh hole.

“I was on the front of the green and was just looking to two putt, but it was very exciting when it went in,” she said.

The win continued some top form for Park. The previous week she had won the North Island Under-19 Strokeplay Championship at the Waitangi Golf Club.
